It’s New Year’s Day and also a Sunday – so it must be time for some more Airplane Art.
This week, we have a United Airlines Boeing 767-300ER taxiing at Geneva Airport as it prepares for the transatlantic leg to return to its hub of Newark International Airport.
United Airlines operates a fleet of 37 Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in its long-haul fleet. The airline also operates the Boeing 757, Boeing 767-400ER, Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 777-300ER, Boeing 787-8, -9 and -10 in its long haul feet.
The 767 themselves won’t be long for the United fleet, with the airline announcing a mass order to replace the type over the next few years with Boeing 787 family aircraft.
This aircraft – N672UA – was delivered to United Airlines in December 1999 – making it just over 23 years old at the time of writing. The aircraft has remained in the fleet since then, surviving the merger with Continental Airlines and retaining its classic registration. Over the past few days, the aircraft has been busy earning revenue for united, operating out of its Newark and Washington Dulles bases to London Heathrow, Santo Domingo, Geneva and Zurich.
More Airplane Art next week!
