REVIEW 2025 – Kevin’s Years in Numbers

31/12/2025 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

It’s time for me to look back on my year in flying, as I dive into my numbers.

Because everyone loves numbers.

Maps are good. Here’s one that I generated on https://www.greatcirclemap.com, showing my adventures (few as they were) this year.

a map of the world

The big numbers for 2025 – around the same as last year – are very much back-loaded into the rear of the year.

From to Airline Equipment Class of Service Miles
LHR OTP British Airways Airbus A320ceo Eurobusiness 1,311 mi
OTP LHR British Airways Airbus A320ceo Eurobusiness 1,311 mi
LHR ORD British Airways Boeing 787-9 Economy 3,953 mi
ORD LHR American Airlines Boeing 787-9 Economy 3,953 mi
LHR HAM British Airways Airbus A320ceo Eurobusiness 464 mi
HAM LHR British Airways Airbus A320ceo Eurobusiness 464 mi
LHR ORD American Airlines Boeing 787-9 Economy 3,953 mi
ORD LHR British Airways Boeing 787-10 Premium Economy 3,953 mi
LHR OSL British Airways Airbus A320ceo Eurobusiness 750 mi
OSL IST Turkish Airlines Airbus A321neo Business Class 1,509 mi
IST SIN Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300ER Business Class 5,393 mi
SIN KUL Air Asia Airbus A320neo Economy 184 mi
KUL SIN Malaysia Airlines Boeing 737-800 Economy 184 mi
SIN IST Turkish Airlines A350-900 Business Class 5,393 mi
IST OSL Turkish Airlines A321 Business Class 1,509 mi
OSL LHR SAS A320neo Economy 750 mi

Which comes to 15,672 butt-in-seat miles. Here’s the list of trips I documented:

  • Miles to Bucharest – Operation Silver with British Airways – LHR-OTP, OTP-LHR
  • Springtime Transatlantic Aventures with British Airways and American Airlines – LHR-ORD (BA), ORD-LHR (AA)
  • New Aircraft, Old Friends – To Chicago with American Airlines and British Airways – LHR-ORD (AA) ORD-LHR (BA)
  • Growing Old In Style – Three Alliances and an LCC – LHR-OSL (BA), OSL-IST-SIN (TK), SIN-KUL (AK), KUL-SIN (MH), SIN-IST, IST-OSL (TK), OSL-LHR (SK)

I skipped the Hamburg Trip. One year, I’ll write it. Microsoft did its number on me to break me down this year, and my energy levels dipped to zero.

Class of Service

I’m honest – I’m surprised at this, with short-haul business class becoming much more of a sight than in previous years.

Short Haul Economy 3
Short Haul Business 7
Long Haul Economy 2
Long Haul Premium Economy 2
Long Haul Business Class 2

Aircraft

Whilst a tube with wings and an engine is just that, some love makes and models. Short Haul, it’s mostly been an Airbus show, with only a smattering of Boeing 737s. In the long haul, it’s mostly Boeing, with 787s being my chariots across the pond, whilst Airbus A350 and Boeing 777-300ER shared my Singapore trip.

And I would had prefered more A350s to be honest… but that’s how the trip cookie crumbles.

Short Haul

A320 family 8
A320neo family 3
Boeing 737 NG 1

Long Haul

Boeing 787 family 2
Boeing 777 family 1
Airibus A350 family 1

No regional jets or turboprops this year. That kind of year, I guess.

New to me

In terms of airlines, there were three new airlines for me as well this year, with Turkish Airlines, SAS and AirAsia all getting on the list.

New Products

In terms of products, I got to try Turkish Airlines’ oldest and newest seats (including the Stelia Aerospace Symphony), as well as an updated Collins Aerospace Aspire Economy Seat with American Airlines.

On the short-haul front, there was the Safran Z110i with Malaysia Airlines.

. And Recaro’s classic BL3520 seat with SAS.

In terms of airports, nothing new, other than Kuala Lumpur International Terminal 2.

Next Year

Change in the air as I continue to hunt for a frequent flyer home, given that I’ve given up on retaining BA Silver ever again. So, like most things in life, everything changes.

And providing things stabilise in the background, I hope you can join me at Economy Class and Beyond for the hilarity that will be travel in 2026.

Until next year… tooodles!
