It seems Lufthansa Group is making another play for those affected by British Airways’ “The Club” changes, with them relaunching a status match programme.
Let’s go through this quickly.
Where can I apply?
At https://lufthansa.statusmatch.com/
Who can apply, and what status can you get?
A table solves everything:
In summary:
- BA Silver, IB Plata, IB oro and AZ Club Plus matches to Frequent Traveller (FTL)
- BA Gold, BA Gold Guest List, BA Premier, IB Platino Prime, IB Infinita, IB Infinita Prime, AZ Club Premium and Club Prime can match to Senator (SEN)
- No matching to HON Circle is formally being offered
No other airlines are being matched at this time.
As well as having a BA/IB account with the appropriate status, you will also need to be an enrolled member of Miles & More and have a service number (membership number) to submit as part of the process.
Where can I status match from?
You will need to be in the list of territories below to status match:
Albania, Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, India, Iceland, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Macedonia, Norway, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, United Kingdom, USA.
Cost
It’s going to cost you €99 to apply for a match.
How long is the status valid for?
It will be valid until 28th February 2027.
If your application is approved, you will receive the corresponding frequent flyer status in the Miles & More programme within 10 business days from approval.
Deadline to apply
Like a lot of these offers, the status match offer is limited in the number of matches and timeframe at the sole discretion of StatusMatch.com, Lufthansa and Miles & More. It may end at any time.
T&C’s?
For those of you who match to Senator, you will not receive any eVouchers with the status upgrade and will not be able to use the mileage advance privilege.
In addition, you cannot take part if your Miles & More account has received a match via the StatusMatch.com service, or if you have ever previously received a Status Match with Miles & More.

Second chances
Lufthansa Group has rejoined the fray for IAG customers after Air France/KLM relaunched their status match earlier last month, as the time continues to tick on for BA Silvers and Golds.
For British Airways flyers who know their fate under the new “The Club” system (and trust me, I’ve known mine for some time), you’ve been given two lifelines to retain status whilst building up new loyalty.
You’ll have to balance that with changing hubs (altjouhh if you’re outside london, this could well be a blessing in disguise), seeing if the route networks match your needs and if you can meet the requalification standards for the next year.
All hard questions. Sadly, the time to act on this is coming to a close. If the match works for you, go for it.
At worst, its €99 down the pan, whilst you buy yourself another year of working out which airline loves you.
