With everything going on in the Middle East, airline operations of all sorts have faced heavy disruption, with passengers, crew and aircraft all out of position.
Some airlines have started rescue flights (either as a private concern or as part of a government-backed repatriation effort).
Whilst Qatari airspace is still closed, the Qatar Airways is planning to start operating a limited number of relief flights from 05 March to support passengers who are stranded due to the current situation across the region.
The following services are planned:
- Flights from Muscat to: London Heathrow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome, and Amsterdam.
- Flight from Riyadh to Frankfurt
Regarding these flights, Qatar Airways states:
Passengers are kindly requested not to proceed to the airport unless they have received an official notification from Qatar Airways for these flights.
Qatar Airways will contact affected passengers directly with their assigned flight details, travel arrangements and next steps.
Please ensure your contact details are up to date so we can reach you with flight information and instructions. Details can be updated at qatarairways.com or through the Qatar Airways mobile app.
We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and will share further updates as soon as they become available.
The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority. We apologise for the disruption caused by circumstances beyond our control due to the temporary airspace closure and thank you for your patience.
As for departures from Qatar (and Hamad International Airport) itself, until Qatari Airspace re-opens, it’s a waiting game, with the airline providing daily updates at 09:00 Doha time/06:00UTC
What are other airlines offering?
Air Arabia has suspended flights to and from the UAE, with only limited flights operating in coordination with the relevant authorities, subject to operational and safety approvals. Passengers scheduled on operating flights will be notified directly
British Airways is offering repatriation flights out of Muscat on the 6th and 7th (with the flight today sold out). The rest of the network to Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai and Tel Aviv remains suspended.
Emirates is offering a very limited network out of Dubai, as airspace over Dubai is being reopened on a limited basis. Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule until further notice. Flights to these destinations are currently operating. Passengers can check availability and book here. The airline is accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority.
Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating. Please do not go to the airport unless you hold a confirmed booking for these flights.
Etihad’s network suspension continues until at least 06:00 6th March.
flyDubai is following a similar pattern to Emirates in its network restart.
Gulf Air services remain suspended.
Oman Air has network cancellations, with the flights on Friday, 6 March, Saturday, 7 March and Sunday, 8 March 2026: All flights to and from Amman (AMM), Dubai (DXB), Bahrain (BAH), Doha (DOH), Dammam (DMM), Kuwait (KWI), Copenhagen (CPH), Baghdad (BGW), and Khasab (KHS) having cancellations. Other flights are expected to operate, with some delays expected.
