If you’re still thinking about a status match from your BA Status, there is a brave new hope, providing you’re happy to fly SkyTeam – with Scandinavian Airlines opening up a status match.
The status match is for British Airways customers only, offering EuroBonus Silver, Gold or Diamond Status, with no flight challenge required.
Eurobonus Silver Matches to SkyTeam Elite, whilst Gold/Diamond matches to SkyTeam ElitePlus.
According to the match, you can match to the following:
| British Airways Club Tier | SAS EuroBonus Tier |
| Bronze | Silver (Normally
20 000
or
10 flights)
|
| Silver | Silver or Gold (Normally
45 000
or
45 flights)
|
| Gold/Gold Guest List | Gold or Diamond (normally
90 000
or
90 flights)
|
The fees are:
| SAS EuroBonus Tier | Application Fee |
| Silver | EUR 39 |
| Gold | EUR 79 |
| Diamond | EUR 159 |
You must be a resident of an eligible country to apply:
Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, Vatican, Great Britain,
Where can I apply?
So, up to 23 months?
Per the notes from Terms and Conditions, you will receive the rest of your current SAS EuroBonus membership year, plus all of the following year. The upshot is that if you create a new Eurobonus account, you will receive 23 months of membership.
If you are matching to an existing Eurobonus membership, your membership won’t last as long. For example (cited by SAS), if your EuroBonus year-end is June 2026, your new status would be valid from approval until the end of June 2027.
If you’ve only got a few orphan miles or an old Eurobonus account, it might be worth abandoning it, unless you’re happy to trade off the loss in status for existing points.
Notes and Observations
I’ve pasted in the SAS terms and conditions of the Status Match. Everything else is the same as the statusmatch.com terms and conditions.
- The offer on this Status Match portal is applicable to British Airways Club members only.
- Only one status match per person will be permitted under the Status Match offer.
- The status match offer is available to selected residents holding eligible status airline. Applicants may be asked to provide identity documents.
- Not all tiers are available for matching.
- If approved, the status validity is for the remainder of your existing SAS EuroBonus membership year, plus 12 months. For example if your EuroBonus year end is June 2026, your new status would be valid from approval, until end June 2027. Standard qualification criteria applies after the initial match timeframe.
- All status match requests are handled by and are the responsibility of StatusMatch.com and not by SAS or any of its affiliates.
- In addition to other eligibility requirements, a status match will only be granted to applicant’s whose name matches the records in the EuroBonus program. With the participation in the campaign, participants acknowledge that the data submitted to Statusmatch.com will be shared with SAS and Loyalty Status Co sub-processors for verification purposes.
- Only elite status holders of eligible airlines who pay the relevant fee, and are approved will receive the matched status.
- The Status Match offer is limited in number of matches and timeframe at the sole discretion of StatusMatch.com and SAS. It may end at any time.
- Members that are approved for a status match will not be eligible for any potential subsequent status match with SAS.
- The awarded SAS status may be suspended, revoked or terminated by SAS in accordance with the EuroBonus program terms and conditions.
- SAS reserves the right to deny the status match approval for members who have violated the EuroBonus program terms and conditions in the past.
- While most upgrades are processed rapidly, SAS may take up to 10 business days after approval by StatusMatch.com before the upgraded tier is visible in the member’s EuroBonus account.

The Last Chance Salon is getting closer
If you’re a British Airways “The Club” Member, you should know by now how you stand for status, as the memberships are due to roll around in April and if you’re going to make it.
With 514 Tier Points, I count my chances to get to 6500 Tier Points as “laughable”
If status length is important to you, the SAS status could be a good one to go for.
Checking around, the Flying Blue Status Match and Miles & More Status Match are still running (although you’re out of time if you wanted to match to Royal Jordanian Status Match with hotel status).
Just make sure you read around the programme before signing up.
Whilst a status match is useful, retention can be a lot harder.
