easyJet is celebrating its Newcastle Airport base opening, with a team-up with the Geordie institution Greggs to take sausage rolls to the air as they launch limited-edition Sausage Roll dipping sauces.
The weird and wonderful flavours, inspired by new easyJet holiday destinations, include a spin on the French classic Tarte Tatin, an original twist on the much-loved Spanish Sangria, as well as a Kebab-inspired flavour that delivers a taste of Turkey.
The new range of easyJet and easyJet holidays Destination Dips include:
- Indulge in Italy with Silky Affogato – Intense, deep roasted coffee, decadent cocoa, and aromatic vanilla bean. A classic Italian treat.
- Fly away to France with tangy tarte tatin – The comforting taste of caramelised apple and warm cinnamon, with a delicate hint of thyme. A sophisticated patisserie classic.
- Transported to Tunisia with spicy harissa ketchup – Vibrant and exotic, this sweet-and-spicy ketchup blends rich tomato, sweet date, and tangy pomegranate.
- Soar off to Spain with snappy sangria – Bursting with red wine, zesty orange, and tangy cranberry. All the vibrant spirit of Spanish Sangria.
- Take off to Turkey with saucy kebab – Aromatic and authentic, featuring zesty lemon, tangy vinegar, and smoky paprika. A total Turkish delight.
Travellers flying from Newcastle Airport with the airline today will be treated to the much-loved Geordie pastry and destination-inspired dipping sauces for free, to enjoy on board all of easyJet’s international flights.
And, from Monday through Wednesday, Geordies have a chance to get their hands on the free limited-edition dipping sauces with a special easyJet cabin crew service landing in Newcastle city centre.
The Newcastle Base
The new base at Newcastle Airport will be home to three easyJet aircraft, supporting around 1,200 jobs, including 140 direct roles for pilots and cabin crew.
The airline is now offering 86 flights per week to 22 leisure destinations across Europe and North Africa – a 85% increase vs. last summer, including new routes taking off from today to Antalya, Corfu, Dalaman, Enfidha, Faro, Lisbon, Malta, Nice, Prague, Reus, Rhodes, Rome, Sharm-El-Sheikh, and Tenerife.
Newcastle is easyJet’s 11th UK base opening, following the launch of London Southend Airport last year and Birmingham in 2024, as the airline continues its trajectory of UK regional growth and offering more direct connectivity and choice for customers in the UK.

Grow the network. And dipping into local links
easyJet serves 22 UK airports, offering more than 650 routes to nearly 140 destinations from the UK to Europe and beyond, with Newcastle opening up as the airline’s 11th base in the United Kingdom, as it seeks to soak up passenger demand to destinations across Europe (either as flights or as a holiday package).
The airline operates over 350 aircraft on more than 1,200 routes to more than 160 airports across 35 countries. Over 300 million Europeans live within one hour’s drive of an easyJet airport.
With a tie-in with Greggs, it’s an interesting move – celebrating an airline and a pastries company.
Although I do wonder how those sausage rolls will hold up in the sky.
There is some good news, though – if you’re arriving at Newcastle Airport, there’s a Greggs in the airport. And a Sauage roll after a flight… is no bad thing at all.
