Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond (28th March)

28/03/2026 by Kevincm Leave a Comment

We’re coming to the end of March, and for those of us in Europe, the clocks go forward tonight (so, one hour less in bed). But things go on as usual here, so it’s time for Last Week at Economy Class and Beyond.

Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, Chicago
Mentally, I’m here still. Physically, I’m in the coffee shop, still trying to wake up at the time of writing – Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, Chicago.

Routes and Networks

  • Qatar Airways sets out its operations for the next few weeks – Up to 90 destinations on offer, but it’s subject to what’s going on in the region.
  • Singapore Airlines to launch Western Sydney Airport International Service – Let’s see who else is going to end up there…

New Aircraft News

  • Finnair orders Embraer E195-E2 for fleet renewal, and scouts for further Airbus aircraft – Up to 4E195-E2s, and 12 Airbus A320/A321s on the way.

Papers, please.

  • UK Passport prices to rise… again – Wonderful. Get your applications in before the 8th April

Seating

  • easyJet selects Mirus Kestral seat for new aircraft – New Lightweight seats on the way for easyJet, with a big win for Mirus Aircraft Seating

Passenger Experience

  • easyJet teams up with Greggs for its Newcastle Airport base opening – with sausage rolls to boot

Pretty Pictures

  • Korean Air Boeing 777-300ER (new colours) arriving at Chicago O’Hare

Next Week

For your delecation next week, I’ve got a few flight snapshots for you (and if I get time, maybe hotel ones too), as I start to get the trip report into some sort of manageable order. And trust me – that trip report is going to take some time to get out of the production lines

We’re also ramping up our preparations for Aircrat Interiors Expo, as the Passenger Experience Jamboree heads off to Hamburg. for the news this show will bring. If you’re interested in our show coverage, our Connect at AIX page is live.

On top of that, we’ll have our usual mix of news, and given it’s coming up to the Easter Break, I suspect we’ll have a fair bit of travel-planning news too, given some train lines will be shut over the period.

So until next Saturday, Happy Landings!
