The new route is operated by an Airbus A220, strengthening Air France’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between the United Kingdom and the airline’s global network, allowing passengers from the South of England and London to easily access Paris and beyond.

The two flights a day operate as follows:

DEPART CDG 09:200 ARRIVE LGW 09:30
DEPART CDG 15:45 ARRIVE LGW 15:55

DEPART LGW 10:30 ARRIVE CDG 12:40
DEPART LGW 17:10 ARRIVE 19:20

Booked Equipment: Air France Airbus A220
Data: Air France

As a key gateway to Air France’s extensive intercontinental network, Paris-Charles de Gaulle enables seamless onward connections for UK-based customers. Early booking data indicates strong demand for destinations across the globe, with UK travellers booking flights to the United States, Hong Kong, Spain, Tunisia, Nigeria, Mexico, and Peru, among others.

The new service is also facilitating inbound travel to the UK, with significant interest from travellers based in France, the United States, and Nigeria. By enhancing connectivity and offering greater flexibility, Air France continues to support both business and leisure travel between the UK, France, and its company-wide network.

In addition, with Gatwick joining the Air France network, it will provide customers with excellent transport links to central London via Gatwick Express, Thameslink, and the Southern network, as well as direct access to the South of England, including Brighton, South Downs, and Sussex.

Jerome Salemi, Air France-KLM General Manager (UK & Ireland), said:

“We are delighted to launch our new Gatwick–Paris service, further strengthening Air France’s footprint in London and the South-East. The strong interest we are already seeing highlights the importance of connectivity for both local and international travellers, be it for holidays, business trips or to visit friends and relatives.”

Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer, London Gatwick, said:

“It’s fantastic to see Air France now operating from London Gatwick, giving passengers even more choice for direct flights to Paris and seamless access to Air France’s extensive global network.

“Welcoming such a prestigious and world-famous carrier underscores the strength of Gatwick’s offer and the continued appetite from leading airlines to operate here. Their arrival, alongside other major brands joining the airport, reflects both the strong demand for Gatwick slots and the momentum behind our ongoing growth.”

Additional connectivity, without going to the other major London airport

For Air France, it’s a sign that it is still bullish that there is more than enough traffic to warrant a twice-daily service (given it was only operating out of London Heathrow airport). With two airports, it will allow the airline to spread its passenger load, whilst providing enhanced connectivity.

And managing costs too, given the cost of a slot at Heathrow.

For passengers, it offers a little more flexibility in terms of timings and location, given that not everyone enjoys the drive around the M25 to reach Heathrow. Given that Gatwick has excellent public transport connections, it should offer a good option for those who wish to travel to Paris and beyond.
