Back in 1983, migrating to USA on Korean airlines as a young boy. I wasn’t enjoying the flight. Flight attendant gave me a metal toy airplane. Also, memories of the attendants doing stretch excerises with the passangers and playing guitar for us.
Ralph L says
Best economy experience was first time I went on a trip with my gf (no fiance) to the DR. Flight itself wasn’t anything great – more the memories of the first trip

Last year, flying TATL on Lufthansa – first and only time a purser has come back to thank me for my business as a Star Gold member. No big deal, but it was a nice touch!

Once snagged an entire row of Jetblue EML on a transcon LGB-JFK flight. TV, food, drinks, space…it was perfect!
David says
Best economy experience was KLM LAX-AMS. Full row to myself on a 747! Doesn’t get more spacious than that for $800.

FULL BA flight except for two coach seats from LHR-LAX. Was on my way home to Japan from Saudi Arabia (Desert Storm …yes the long way thanks to cheap military fares) and the Brits, loving military aviators as they do, APOLOGIZED for not upgrading me on this full flight but gave me an entire front row in Coach and kept other folks trying to strectch out from moving into one of the seats. They also fed me first class food and liquor for the whole trip back.
Got some really puzzled looks from the customers around me.

It has to be whilst on the delivery flight of a new BA 777-300 from Seattle to Cardiff. Since First and Club World seats hadn’t been installed yet, we were forced to sit in Economy. But since there were only 50 of us on board, we had entire rows to ourselves.
Greg says
Flew BA CUN-LGW this past Feb. Amazing service, great IFE, and having the two economy seats next to me empty made for a great ghetto first class experience!
shar says
My first international flight that I remember as a child. It was, of course, in economy… and the thrill of being in an airplane for 10 hours to find myself on the other side of the world… that was amazing.
B-Rad says
Any JetBlue short haul flight I’ve taken!
Kathryn says
We were little flying Boston to London with my 10 day old sister. The BA flight was nearly empty. Each of us (5) got our own middle row to ourselves! Plus flying with a 10 day old little sister we received A LOT of attention and AS MANY PEANUTS as we could stuff in our backpacks!! Let me tell you, my sister and I ate a lot of peanuts. I think they made our lunch boxes for a while!
Ari says
My best flight? It was an ordinary flight on US from DEN-PHL. I was stuck in cattle class and the crew was surely as ever. After about four hours of suffering, something amazing happened and we were allowed to stand up and leave! Then, reality set in and I filled out paperwork for a lost bag.
Alexandra says
Best experience was BA LAX to LHR. Husband took me with on business trip. He had first class seat and I only had economy. He gave up his prized seat to sit with me in economy and I had my best friend and companion to share a cramped, but wonderful flight. We watched comedy DVDs, giggled out loud, drank scotch and he even splurged on duty free surprises while on board. The attendant kept coming up with little boxes. What a blast!
Vivek D says
My best experience is from DXB-IAH on Emirates. They actually give you a hot towel upon departure. The headphones, blanket and pilows are great quality for being economy. in addition, food and alcohol are really nice. Alcohol is also free.
Sy Ochoa says
Best economy flight was to Las Vegas, it was a short flight, but hey it was to Vegas :@)
Nishanth says
Best economy flight from Frankfurt to DXB.. Couldnt believe Emirates didnt charge a penny for anything at all.. Great food, entertainment and drinks!
Luis says
MTY-ATL on Aeromexico. Plane was almost empy so that made the flight very comfortable and got extra snacks and drinks from the crew.
Ian says
Get this…I was flying Southwest from Denver to Raleigh “in economy” and happened to sit next to a well dressed older man. I got to talking to him and he ended up being a Board Member for US Airways!!! I said why in the world are you flying in the back of the plane with me and on Southwest no less?? Apparently his original US Airways plane had mechanical issues and he was tired of being delayed by his own company so hopped on the Southwest flight!
Lindsay says
My best flight was when I was on a UA plane from LGA – ORD and there were only 8 other people in Economy. I had a row to myself and the flight attendants were able to be very attentive. It was great.

Atlanta to lost angeles in a jumbo jet. I had an entire middle row to myself…
MiaT says
Flying back from HNL to DFW on a coach tix the economy seats were overbooked– AA was kind enough to sit me up at the First Class cabin. It was a red eye flight ! Sweet.
Angelina says
Best economy experience: I used to travel from TPA to EWR every weekend during college and I always got the whole first row in economy for myself. I soon became friends with some of the FA and they would give me extra first class meals!

Flying Soutwest from Denver to St Louis. Had a same plane stop in Omaha only to be kept at the gate in Omaha for several hours due to tornado warnings in St Louis. It just so happened that I was on the emergency row and a guy I know got on the plane in Omaha so we got to sit and chat for awhile. Funny part was after sitting at the gate all loaded in a very full plane for over an hour a guy gets in the plane and can’t believe he didn’t miss his flight only to cheers from the passengers. Needless to say our adult beverages on the flight became free after the for hour or so delay.
Brian says
My flight to NRT from LAX via Singapore Airlines. The attendants were good looking and sincere. Not to mention it was right after the nuclear power plant issue so I had a whole row to myself!
snuggliestbear says
My best economy flight was probably flying back from Buffalo to Chicago. Our flight went right over Niagara Falls (which we had visited earlier in the trip) and it was awesome to get another look at them.
Nadine says
My best economy experience was on Delta Airlines from Boston to Amsterdam a few years ago. The back of the plane was pretty empty, so I had 5 seats to myself and was able to lie down and sleep the whole way – it was almost better than 1st class (other than the food).
London Tim says
My best experience is a longhaul LHR-BKK on EVA air where I fell asleep 10 mins after takeoff and woke up 10 mins before landing!
Pat says
I was on a flight back to Austin and made a change of planes. A nice flight attendant going down the escalator asked if I was having a good day, and I said yes, but it would be even better if my complementary upgrade to Austin comes through. She said she was working that same flight in first class and she would look for me. Well, my upgrade did not come through, but the flight attendant did! When she saw I was not up front, she went looking for me, said hello, and gave me a complementary first class snack and a glass of wine. It was above and beyond, made me feel great and appreciated, and made my economy seat memorable. Thanks flight attendant. They sometimes get a bad rap, but they can also make your day.
Deniz says
When I was younger the flight attendants on AA used to love me for some reason and always gave me extra snacks 🙂

My best experience is when the counter person asked me if I’d like to move since she is trying to put the whole family seated together, and I had one of the seats that they want. What end up happen is that i got moved to first class paying economy flight fare:)

Best economy flight was on Asiana from ICN-JFK where I got first dibs on the food selection due to my mom’s Diamond status. Asiana also has one of the best seat pitches in Economy as well so the 12 hour flight isn’t too bad.

Back in january/2012 from GRU to DFW, me my wife and a 1 year old daughter, were surrounded by another 3 parents with their kids screemingand crying all fligh long. Not fun at all when my daughter decided to join them 🙂

EWR to ZUR on Swiss in 2005. Nothing spectacular or out of the ordinary happened, it was just so much nicer than the American-based airlines I typically fly TATL.
Ari says
First Flight to Europe 🙂
Bill H says
On a TATL back from LHR to LAX – out of AAEvips and condemed to coach, I was flummoxed to find my entire row deserted. With plenty of room to sprawl once the armrests were raised and with plenty of space to keep all my gear close at hand it was almost as good as J.

Due to a lack of early enough connecting flights, I had to fly to Heathrow the night before a transatlantic flight. Being a poor college student, I planned on staying in the terminal overnight. I went to see if I could at least check my bag for the next day, and the agent behind the counter had me wait a minute while he went and talked to someone. When he came back, he told me he had set me up with a room at an airport hotel. With BA being so big, they apparently have blocks of permanently reserved rooms that go to waste otherwise. I had no status and was in economy, but I was very appreciative, especially since I got to have a hotel buffet breakfast instead of relying on airline food.

On a recent AA flight going to JFK from LHR (leg 2 of 3 coming back from a trip to Romania), a very kind flight attendent told us about an onboard bassanet for our eight month old daughter. Our daughter slept peacefully, and we were able to relax.

Just missed an upgrade on a IAD-JFK flight. Board the flight and the FA recognizes me from the week before. She asked if I was joining her up front, and I said I was stuck in the bulkhead aisle in coach. She said, “I’m sure we can take care of you.” I might as well have been in first. All drinks free and an extra meal showed up on my tray. The coach flight attendants were confused until the first FA said, “He’s one of us.”

My best economy class has to be AA JFK –> LHR in May 2010. I get to travel with all my friends for a graduation Euro Trip!

On Asiana airlines from Seoul to LAX. The plane seemed to have more legroom than the average plane, the food was excellent, and they actually gave me a small amenity kit (in coach!).
Matt says
Back in the day, kids used to get toy planes and playing cards on Delta.

Flew by myself with my 2 small kids dressed up in their Halloween costumes on American a few years ago. The flight attendants were super nice, addressed my kids as Princess and Spiderman, and kept them totally stocked up with juice and snacks. The kids both got wings and got to meet the pilots and see the cockpit when we landed. Made for a fun and relaxing flight for me and the kids even though we were flying coach.
David says
On a recent Virgin Blue flight the whole flight say happy birthday to me and my wife even organised a cake but not candles tho 🙂
HR says
Best Economy Class experience 2007 July on Korean Air (best legroom in economy at that time per Seat Guru) from LAX-ICN-BOM and subsequently IAH-DXB on Emirates in 2011 January. The FA took care of our little one while we settled in and then even took our baby back half way through the flight so that we could get some rest. After about an hour or so we became nervous and went back to the galley to find our girl playing on a big blanket and merrily eating cheese and crackers with the FA! Emirates also gave our little one a back pack, special kids meals and a stuffed toy!

Jetblue Jfk to Syracuse, the flight attendant went out of her way to make me feel better as I was bit under the weather. Little things go a long way.

My first Delta Song flight (BOS-PBI-BOS). I was so in love with the seat back video screens and playing trivia against my co-workers on the flight.
Alex says
My best ever Economy flight was an Emirates flight DXB-PVG back in 2004. The route had been launched just three days before, and the load factor was still very low – something around 20%. I had a block of two seats to myself on the A340, which was perfect for eventually curling up against the window and getting some sleep.
But before I headed off to Dreamland, I spent some time in the galley, chatting with a very pretty and very friendly Kiwi flight attendant, who ended up sneaking me glass after glass of champagne from First Class after I had returned to my seat. I can’t remember how many times she passed by, but I do remember arriving in China slightly worse for wear!
Talljames says
Most experiences for me are not so great in Economy as I’m 6’5″ but the time we brought on 6 of the mini vodka bottles and my wife decided she didn’t want her’s and I had to finish them was pretty fun…
David says
Probably first time flying Cathay. In Y, but as a BA Gold (OWE). I got so much personal attention from the crew it was actually embarassing.
And as a veggie, with SPML distributed first but no other SPML passengers anywhere around me, everyone seemed to think this was another ‘perk’ I was getting.
[Sadly CX seem to have very good CRM systems, and no flight since has had the same level of ‘welcome’.]
Helen says
Economy class on the Star Mega Do 2 charter flight was a whole boatload of fun. 😉 Booze, comaderie, pillow fight, fun FAs, and meals!
Mandrake says
Not terribly exiciting, but the best economy experience was a recent CDG-ORD flight with AA. The flight was less than half-full meaning plenty of room to stretch if you wanted to grab a middle row and just lie down.
corey says
Best has been Delta from Tokyo to NY. Met a nice girl.

lhr-ord on delta…my screen was broken so i got a $100 voucher 🙂

Best experience for me is to have a whole row to myself on an international flight SFO-PEK…

My best was from JFK to Buenos Aires. They woman sat us in row 41 which was right where it went from 5 seats across to 4 seats across. There was a lot of leg room and it was a great choice of seats.

My best experience was coincidentally in an AA-serviced flight from LAS-DFW-CUN. The steward went out of his way to make sure we were having fun. He provided us with lots of free booze. LOL

Emirates A380 from Auckland to Sydney – November 2009. (Fifth freedom air right with continuing service on to Dubai.) Plane was 1/4 full and cost of $160 USD. Excellent in-flight entertainment and a tasty meal for the 2 1/2 hr flight that included an appetizer, main, and chocolate afterwards. Economy class even featured a menu. The flight was the quietest I have ever been on. I was in awe as it was my first experience on the A380 and a Gulf carrier.
