In news you don’t want to hear at all, British Airways and Avios are putting up their Reward flight saver prices according to this page on Avios.com
Here’s those new prices in full:
CLASS OLD PRICE NEW PRICE RISE EUROTRAVELLER (Y) £30 £35 17% CLUB EUROPE (C) £40 £50 20%
These prices exclude the Avios you need to get to your destination. In addition, Iberia flights will not be eligible for Reward Flight Saver pricing from 11th July (this includes flights that are BA Coded on IB metal).
To beat the rise, you’ll need to be quick as price rises go into effect on 11th July – so get that booking in by 23:59 on the 10th July people.
Avios and BA blame this on:
“factors outside of our control, such as the continued increases in government and other airport taxes across Europe”
Saying that, Reward Flight Saver is actually rather good value, with some good savings of 50% on standard fuel surcharges and taxes and above depending on where you are going – and certainly a very good use of Avios in Europe.

To qualify for Reward saver flights, you need to earn a grand total of 1 Avios in the preceding 12 months.
Well, it could be a lot worse. They could be scrapping Reward Flight Saver for everyone, and not just Iberia. Price rises are always hard to stomach, and whilst it’s just a fiver or a tenner… it’s still cash.
Still – it’s better paying that than full taxes….
