The FlyBe axe is wielded – more routes for the chop

05/12/2013 by Kevincm

It seems in an effort to save more money, more FlyBe routes will be axed – in addition to the routes from Cardiff I talked about yesterday,a lot more route to be between January 2014 and the Summer Season.

Glasgow – Shannon
Bristol – Jersey
East Midlands – Paris CDG
Belfast City – Exeter – Paris CDG
Cardiff – Glasgow
Cardiff – Glasgow – Paris CDG
Cardiff – Paris
Leeds/Bradford – Southampton
Southampton – Hanover
Exeter – Newcastle

At the end of the March, the Gatwick base closes as EasyJet takes over FlyBe’s slots, resulting in the following cancellations:

London Gatwick – Belfast City
London Gatwick – Guernsey
London Gatwick – Inverness
London Gatwick – Isle of Man
London Gatwick – Jersey
London Gatwick – Newcastle

In addition, Summer cancellations will be harsh too, with the following routes going.

Belfast City – Jersey
Bristol – Isle of Man
Edinburgh – Knock
Exeter – Barcelona
Exeter – Nice
Isle of Man – Luton
Isle of Man – London Luton
Isle of Man – Southampton
Jersey – Luton
Jersey – Newcastle
Limoges – Newcastle
Newquay – Norwich
Southampton – Barcelona
Southampton – Beziers

However, there is a small glimmer of hope, as FlyBe is to retain its London Gatwick to Newquay route, slimming it from 3 flights a day to 2 flights.

As FlyBe continues to struggle to recover, there will be pain along the way. Hopefully these routes are the worst performing, rather than difficult to operate.

Suffice to say, there will be a lot of people who are going to have to find a new route to their destination from January onwards…
