ANA prepares major international timetable re-cast

10/12/2013 by Kevincm

ANA is preparing for a major timetable recast on international routes as Tokyo Haneda International Airport will be opened up to long haul arrivals during the daytime.

So what’s new? Quite a bit it seems, and a lot of the action will kick off on 30th March 2014:

  • Tokyo Haneda – Hanoi (new route), will operate daily with a 767-300 and switch to a 787 from June 2014
  • Tokyo Haneda – Jakarta (new route), will operate daily with a 787
  • Tokyo Haneda – London Heathrow (new route), will operate daily with a 777-300ER – abandoning the old Tokyo Narita to London Heathrow route to Virgin Atlantic
  • Tokyo Haneda – Manila (new route), will operate daily with a 767-300
  • Tokyo Haneda – Paris-CDG (new route), will operate daily with a 777-300ER, with the service from Tokyo Narita being retained.
  • Tokyo Haneda – Vancouver (new route), will operate daily with a 767-300

Meanwhile, there will be changes to frequencies too:

  • Tokyo Haneda – Bangkok will operate twice daily (one service with a 767-300, one with a 777-200)
  • Tokyo Haneda – Singapore will operate twice daily using 787s

Respective services from Tokyo Narita will drop from 2 services a day to one service a day.

Tokyo Haneda’s location is excellent for access to the centre of Tokyo and access to the Shinkansen network – the centre being 20 minutes away from the airport via Monorail or Keyku lines as opposed to the 40/50 minutes Narita is (dependant on which line you take etc).  In addition, the timings of the new flights are great for those who aren’t fans of jetlag.

In addiction, there are also excellent connections at Haneda to ANA’s domestic network.

And let’s face it – anything beats that slog to Tokyo.

You might want to look at my Asia 2012 trip report where I flew in and out of Tokyo Haneda at http://economyclassandbeyond.boardingarea.com/2012/03/08/trip-report-farewell-miles-with-ana-thai-and-asiana-with-the-ana-787/. It also covers ANA regional and international business class products too.
