For those of you who say (and quite rightly), British Airways taxes and fees are too high on redemption’s, there’s some good news as the airline is offering a Reward Flight Saver Sale, which is on for the next 11 days.
The destinations on offer are a reasonable number with the following on offer for the next 11 days
Destination Avios Taxes Algiers 15,000 Avios £1 Alicante 15,000 Avios £1 Barcelona 15,000 Avios £1 Faro 15,000 Avios £1 Larnaca 20,000 Avios £1 Malaga 15,000 Avios £1 Malta 20,000 Avios £1 Naples 15,000 Avios £1 Tenerife 20,000 Avios £1 Venice 15,000 Avios £1
Bookings are into EuroTraveller (economy class), with departures from London. You’ll need to book your ticket by 17th November, for travel between 6 November 2014 and 31 January 2015. European offers can be found at http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/offers/reward-flight-saver
Long Haul routes also get a look in with the amount of Avios required on routes in World Traveller, 50% off on a lot of routes:
For those who can’t see images, this covers the following routes:
Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Baku, Bangalore, Beijing, Beirut, Buenos Aires, Cairo, Calgary, Chengdu, Chicago, Dallas, Denver,Dubai, Houston, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Kuwait, Mexico City, Montreal, New York-JFK, Newark , Philadelphia, Phoenix, Rio de Janeiro, Riyadh, San Diego, Sao Paulo, Shanghai , Singapore, Tel Aviv, Tokyo Haneda, Tokyo Narita, Washington-Baltimore and Washington-Dulles.
Some routes will suffer the indignity of a 25% discount including Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and , Toronto.:
Sadly, there’s no discount with taxes and surcharges.
As usual when it comes to reward flight saver, seats are limited, and are subject to availability. Long haul seats sales have different dates, so check the BA page on the dates tickets can be booked for at the reduced prices at http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/executive-club/offers/reward-flight-offer
If you’re value minded, this could really save a few pennies, as well as dispose a number of Avios for a lot of benefit.
Now, I know a lot of you are turning your nose up at the words “Economy Class” and “Long Haul Redemption”. I maintain the following truth:
Value is where you find it
These are long haul fares you can lock in at a comparability low-cost if you’re cash-lite at the moment, and if better revenue fares come along, you can swap to them with a £35 cancellation. Also, these are fully flexible tickets (subject to capacity).
If you’re US Based (or your name is View from the Wing) , you’ve written these off already. That’s fun.
For those in the UK who are considering cheap options for next year… this could be the gateway to a great break somewhere, at a slightly lower out-of-pocket cost. You’ll have to compare to see if a saving there, and that is a saving you want to have.
However, for some, a saving is a saving.
Doesn’t sound that bad to me.
