Good morning from the ground at London City Airport where I’ve come off my New York JFK to London City shuttle.
As usual, the flight was great – except for the landing part.
Why? Our little Airbus A318 caught an extra gust of wind this morning, forcing the airplane to go-around.

Go-arounds are more common than we give credit for – and are used because it is unsafe to land due to a variety of reasons – wind being one of them, or another aircraft on the runway.
It also shows the commitment to safety captains and co-pilots make when they’re at a controls of an aircraft.
But that extra burst of power when you least expect it is an amazing thing….
