Yes, I am getting to old for these early starts (or… what important document I left in Birmingham)

14/04/2015 by Kevincm

Good morning from the Chiltern Main Line where I’m heading back to Birmingham

Why?

It seems that the memory gods have cursed me this trip – with me forgetting my passport (although a lot of my colleagues who are going to this show have been all cursed in some way).

If I had been driving, I would had turned back for home – alas, I was in a Coach which was at Milton Keynes by the time I had realised this.

And at 4:30 in the morning – the damage was done.

With no trains until much later – I’ve opted to:

  1. Head straight to London  (6:25 thanks to drivers who thought smoking at Luton Airport was more important than keeping a scheduled.)
  2. Taxi back to Marlyebone (£10 and 15 minute).
  3. Train back to Birmingham (The 7:15 Chiltern Main Line)
  4. A quick ride in a taxi to base – asking the driver to keep the engine ticking over whilst I retrive the passport.
  5. Back to Snow Hill Station
  6. Catch train to London for the 9:55 Chiltern Main Line service.
  7. Tube to Paddington
  8. Over to Heathrow
  9. Catch Plane

Who else can see this going horrendously wrong?

Uh huh. Me too.

On the plus side, I managed to pull another cheap redemption – all for £35 and another 9,000 “worthless” Avios for a flight out of Heathrow later today.

The sun is up. It must be a good sign.. right?
