Whilst the legacy carriers continue to moan about the growth of Norwegian Air Shuttle, the airline is going about its merry way, with a slew of new routes announced to be operated with its Boeing 787 fleet.
This time, the bright lights of Las Vegas are in Norwegians sights, along with the warm beaches of Puerto Rico with a service to San Juan.

Lets break the routes down:
San Juan, Puerto Rico will be a mini hub for Norwegian flying services to the island from Copenhagen, London Gatwick, Oslo and Stockholm.
- Copenhagen to San Juan will operate via St Croix on the return journey once a week from 6th November 2015 on Fridays
- London Gatwick to San Juan will operate twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays from 4th November 2015
- Oslo to San Juan will operate once a week on Sundays from 1st November 2015
- Stockholm to San Juan will operate once a week on Tuesdays from 3rd November 2015.
Meanwhile the Copenhagen to Las Vegas route will operate as a one flight a week service on Tuesdays between the two cities.
Lead in prices from London Gatwick to San Juan start at £269 outbound, £211 inbound
All of these routes are new routes – routes that haven’t got any connectivity between the two points, and clearly targeted at holiday traffic, without the “joy ” of connecting via the mainland United States of America for those passengers who want to head to Puerto Rico.
The Las Vegas route is a useful bit of filler route again, which avoids the need to change along the way.
As usual, these routes will be operated by a cadre of Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
These are interesting network additions, and it will be curious to see if Norwegian can make these new routes stick… and make them grow.

Las Vegas sounds like good news to me. I can fly Allegiant round trip for $80 from Monterey and save the parking expense of flying out of Oakland, California.
Low cost carriers are teaching me how to pack compactly and very light .
I’ll be the crazy Californian wearing a heavy winter coat on the Allegiant flight out of Monterey when it is 95F in Las Vegas in late October.
