One of the things that stands out with the A350 is that head-on, it does look rather badass – mostly due to the black surround around the cockpit.
Qatar Airways Airbus A350XWB… with its badass black cockpit surround.
Well it seems Airbus will be making a design tweak to the upcoming A330neo… and putting a black surround on the A330neo cockpit window.
It will look kind of like this:
A330neo (A330-900) with “Shades” – Rendering, Airbus
So… why the shades? Lets see what Eric Zanin, Head of A330 programme has to say on this:
“The A330neo complement the A350 XWB in the new Airbus Long-Range family, so it was only natural that the A330neo should have the same cockpit shades design than its larger sibling”
The only reaction I have to this is “Riiiiighhhhtttt”.
The A330neo – currently under development – are planned to enter service towards the end of 2017, featuring Rolls Royce Trent 7000 series engines.
Airbus has 135 orders are in the book for the larger A330-900, and 10 for the smaller A330-800.
Although that black surround will make the A330neo look rather badass too….

So if we call the A350 the raccoon, what are we going to call the 330Neo now? It’s a whole family of raccoons!
