With my body pretty cold at this point (or let’s be a bit more honest – my legs we pretty darn cold), I headed over to the bus station and paid my €2 to catch the bus towards Tallinn Airport.
Why there? My hotel – Hotel Ulmestie is allegedly right next door to the airport. Whilst I spotted it from the Uber I was in earlier, the concept of distance was long-lost of on me.
Thankfully, the Number 2 bus which goes to the airport has a stop… right next door to the hotel. Next door… was the airport thankfully. However, with the cold… that would be another discussion in the morning if I would walk between the hotel and the airport
From here it was a matter of crossing the road and negotiating the cold to the reception desk

I checked in, with the formalities completed, I was assigned a room on the 5th floor. The joy of buying one of the last rooms in Tallinn that night at an overpriced rate.
Up we go!
Arriving on the 5th floor, I headed to the room.
Wood everywhere.
.
Passing the Ladu.
As I paid over the odds for the room, I got a large room. Not that I’m objecting (My credit card was – but I don’t do hostels any more).
The bed itself was a bit soft for my liking – not totally un-sleepable, but when you’re used to a firm mattress – it make a difference. In addition, it was cursed with the European tradition of two single duvets in a double bed.
Why? Please Why? Give me a double duvet to hog to myself thank you very much.
Wood everywhere
Let’s explore the bathroom – which was lovely and heated floor. Yes, these things matter.
Firstly we have to get past more wood.
A toilet and a bidet? You spoil us ambassador.

Outside… it was cold. And dark. I was inside and warm. And that’s what mattered at that moment in time as my legs warmed back up.
Hotel Wifi was reasonable – not blazingly fast, but quite acceptable.
Meanwhile outside – it was cold. That would impact choices in the morning if I was going to walk or take a taxi…
Check out at 5am in the morning was handled without any issue. A taxi was called for the short ride back to the airport – because let’s be honest – the hotel maybe walking distance (less than 1/2 a mile), but I wasn’t going outside to freeze in that weather.
Overall: Whilst the rate I was on was over priced for what it was, the hotel provides reasonable accommodations. With a slightly soft bed – it was fine for a night stop.
Although next time, I booked this hotel a lot sooner in advanced… with 2/3rds saving.
Next: Back to Tallinn Airport.

You mention that the hotel was over-priced, but unless I can’t see it, there is no mention of the rate that you paid. How much did you end up paying for the hotel?
Kevincm says
A salacious £140 (even after a 10% off with Hotels.com code).
They saw me coming that weekend…
