With me mostly awake after a warm night sleep, I took a taxi for the short distance from the Hotel Ulmestie to Tallinn Airport.
It looks as cold as it looks. Trust me.
Once into the warmth of the terminal, it was a case of finding my way to the departures level.
Brrr…
This way up to departures.
With my boarding passes in hand, I could skip the joy of the check-in desks and head straight to security.
Security was handled quickly – even if they wanted to scan my camera equipment twice. All that was done quickly and harmlessly.
Another one to the two million.
Once you exit the airport, you’re in…. you’ve guessed it – another duty haul. Guess they really want to make their last few pennies out of the visitors before they get on the plane.
5 minutes to the gate… egads.
There are also shops with more local crafts too.
I’ll be honest – I skipped the lounge on the way through – mainly as I had arrived 50 minutes before departure (why the heck would I need a lounge with that length of wait?). My fellow mileage runner reported it was “basic”. Maybe I’ll stop by it on the way back through next time.
For me, I wanted to some water to go. €1 later, I had some sparkling water to go (what is it with the Nordic countries and sparkling water?).
As well as spotting some things to keep you safe
Because – safety first.
Next it was time to head to the gate.
Off we go again.
Heading to the gate area, sponsorship is the name of the game, with different parts of the terminal sponsored heavily.
These gates sponsored by Tallink who operate routes between Estonia to Finland, Estonia to Sweden, Latvia to Sweden and Finland to Sweden. Which is nice. But we’re not here for boats. I did boats many moons ago.
Gate 5 where the flight to the Helsinki Vantaa would be departing was sponsored by the Estonian Tourist board.
Outside in the cold, planes were resting before their departures.
NoRRA ATR72-500. Lit up a little differently to the one I was aboard the day before…
Boarding was announced – with another fullish load to Helsinki.
Line up and wait.
My boarding pass was zapped, and with the others, I was allowed downstairs onto the tarmac.
Nodica CRJ-700 waiting in the cold – engines covered.
The waiting ATR.
Heading over to the plane with speed to beat the cold, I headed into the warmth of the waiting ATR to Helsinki.
