Tallinn Tier Point Run – Back to Tallinn Airport

Tallinn Tier Point Run - Finnair and NoRRA

In this trip report:

  • 400TP to Go…
  • 2am at a Birmingham Coach Station and Heathrow Airport
  • The new The Cathay Pacific Lounge at Heathrow
  • AY3126 Heathrow to Helsinki
  • Helsinki Airport Finnair Gate 22 Lounge
  • AY107 Helsinki to Tallinn
  • Exploring the old town of Tallinn
  • Hotel Ulmestie
  • Back to Tallinn Airport
  • AY118 Tallinn to Helsinki
  • The Finnair Gate 39 Premium Lounge
  • AY381 Helsinki to Heathrow with an Airbus A350
  • A Delayed Ride Home
  • 200 Tier Points down… Let’s Tallinn that again!

With me mostly awake after a warm night sleep, I took a taxi for the short distance from the Hotel Ulmestie to Tallinn Airport.

It looks as cold as it looks. Trust me.

Once into the warmth of the terminal, it was a case of finding my way to the departures level.

Tallinn Airport
Brrr…

Tallinn Airport
This way up to departures.

With my boarding passes in hand, I could skip the joy of the check-in desks and head straight to security.

Tallinn Airport

Security was handled quickly – even if they wanted to scan my camera equipment twice. All that was done quickly and harmlessly.

Tallinn Airport
Another one to the two million.

Once you exit the airport, you’re in…. you’ve guessed it – another duty haul. Guess they really want to make their last few pennies out of the visitors before they get on the plane.

Tallinn Airport
5 minutes to the gate… egads.

There are also shops with more local crafts too.

Tallinn Airport

I’ll be honest – I skipped the lounge on the way through – mainly as I had arrived 50 minutes before departure (why the heck would I need a lounge with that length of wait?). My fellow mileage runner reported it was “basic”. Maybe I’ll stop by it on the way back through next time.

For me, I wanted to some water to go. €1 later, I had some sparkling water to go (what is it with the Nordic countries and sparkling water?).

As well as spotting some things to keep you safe

Tallinn Airport
Because – safety first.

Next it was time to head to the gate.

Tallinn Airport
Off we go again.

Heading to the gate area, sponsorship is the name of the game, with different parts of the terminal sponsored heavily.

Tallinn Airport
These gates sponsored by Tallink who operate routes between Estonia to Finland, Estonia to Sweden, Latvia to Sweden and Finland to Sweden. Which is nice. But we’re not here for boats. I did boats many moons ago.

Tallinn Airport
Gate 5 where the flight to the Helsinki Vantaa would be departing was sponsored by the Estonian Tourist board.

Outside in the cold, planes were resting before their departures.

NoRRA ATR 72 at NoRRA ATR 72 at Tallinn Airport
NoRRA ATR72-500. Lit up a little differently to the one I was aboard the day before…

Boarding was announced – with another fullish load to Helsinki. Tallinn Airport
Line up and wait.

Tallinn Airport

My boarding pass was zapped, and with the others, I was allowed downstairs onto the tarmac.

Nordica Bomardier CRJ-200
Nodica CRJ-700 waiting in the cold – engines covered.

NoRRA ATR 72 at NoRRA ATR 72 at Tallinn Airport
The waiting ATR.

Heading over to the plane with speed to beat the cold, I headed into the warmth of the waiting ATR to Helsinki.

Next: AY118 Tallinn to Helsinki Vantaa
