Back into the warm of the terminal, it was time to leave the Schengen zone, and into the area for Non-Schengen flights. With a group of 4 of us now (and I swear a few extras behind us)
Passing more duty-free…
And more duty-free
And Moomin things
A bar…
Approaching the border, I went for the electronic kiosks to clear me – and unlike the machines at Heathrow that enjoy kicking me out for a living – I completed the transfer formality in a minute flat.
Only to find myself back in yet another duty-free shop.
I swear the Finns love Duty free or something.
Heading out of the duty-free area, it was time to head to the lounge.
My boarding pass was blipped and I was directed to the Premium Lounge as opposed to the other lounge.
And yes, this lounge has sauna.
Things you don’t see in a lounge every day – a sauna.
The lounge itself is again – Nordic/Scandinavian clean lines. There’s plenty of seating in this side of the lounge for those looking for a comfortable space
For some of us, there were other priorities – the first being coffee.
Whilst an army may march on its stomach, Kevin functions on doses of caffeine.
With a dose of coffee in my system, the desire for food awakened. Thankfully, there’s a nice breakfast spread of cold and hot items waiting to be obtained.
Dining and bar area
Food items
Meats, Cheeses and Hot items
Crockery and flatware
Pancakes
Meat related items too.
Salad items and Cornflakes
Drinks were offered too. My co-traveller went with orange juice.
Me? Bubbles.
C’mon. What did you expect me to drink? I’m making the best of this £230 fare. End of matter.
And of course, there’s the lovely Ultima Thule Glassware everywhere.
Whilst time was limited in the lounge, it was an enjoyable place to be, with plenty of thought in the design. I’ll attempt to spend more time in it next time when I go through here.
With boarding commenced for the London flight, I headed to the gate
It seems there was a games convention on in town a week earlier … that gave rise to this
Well played, @HelsinkiAirport. https://t.co/AziiXvpuMI

Soon my A350. Soon…
Backtracking to Gate 39, boarding was already in full swing for this A350 to London Heathrow, with the plane loading.
I headed into the premium lane, and was processed aboard.
With that, it was time for the bit I’ve been really looking forward to this trip: flying in Business Class aboard a Finnair Airbus A350
Next: Helsinki to London aboard an A350 in Business Class
