I was welcomed aboard the Embraer, and headed to my home of 7F for the short run over to Washington DC. I popped my bag in the overhead bin, and kept my camera by my side.
The plane loaded quickly as it didn’t seem to be a busy flight that night – with most of main cabin loaded, and Main Cabin Extra seats having spares next to each other mostly.
So, two for two – doing well so far this trip.
The cabin
Embraer seating
I settled down as boarding continued. Soon boarding was complete, and it was time to go.
A busy ramp
Legroom – not bad for a regional flight.
I also saw my luggage being loaded – at least they didn’t get to the champagne bottle yet from the looks of things
With the safety demonstration completed, the lights fell in the cabin
Cabin in darkness…
Soon our plane was being pushed out on to the ramp for the taxi over to the runway.
Passing another Embarer.
And slightly bigger planes
Ooh. Sharklets.
Whilst taxing out of the terminal area quick, our plane was caught in the late bank of departures – meaning there was a wait to get to the runway.
Another plane barreling away.
Soon enough thankfully, it was time for our E-175 to power its engines up and take AA4545 to the night sky.
With the plane taking to the night sky, and no IFE, the only thing to do is watch the pretty lights.
With the plane safely in the air, the flight attendant noted there would be no onboard service for the 45 minute flight to Regan.
The E-175 was equipped with GoGo Wireless ATG aboard it – although one look at the pricing put me off for a such a short flight
Nah.
So it was back to the external IFE for me. Now if there’s one thing I like about flying at night in a dark cabin is watching the pretty lights below. Add a bit of cloud and you can get some epic light displays.
Well – that night was my lucky night.
With the plane closing in on Washington DC, it was time for the lights to come up and clear down any service items there were – so that would be in the front seats only.
Our plane the begun its turns for Washington Reagan Airport
With our plane lined up, the Embraer E-175 begun its final descent.
The lights were becoming more formed, and brighter as AA4545 descended.
With a gentle bump, AA4545 successfully landed at Washington Regan – and there was me thinking we would have a quick taxi to the gate and have this trip over and done with.
The Capitol Building in the distance. Yup. Welcome to the DC area.
However, our E-175 taxied over to a penalty spot as our plane was “early” and our gate was occupied.
What’s the term…. let it end please?
The Washington Monument in the distance.
Taxing traffic.
So close, yet so far.
Eventually, our E-175 was finally released to traverse the short distance to the gate, ending the days plane travel for me.
Overall: A simple A to B service – with minimal customer service once aboard the plane. Satisfactory, but a water run would had been nice if I’m honest…
Next: The Holiday Inn Washington Regan Airport.
