  • I need another break…

With me through security there were I went to one single thing – I wasn’t interested in a new camera, new geek tech… or anything else.

I was more interested in the GST Refund ( on the gimbal I brought), and then heading to a lounge to get a few things done. With the GST Refund slightly hidden, it was a case of following the signs to a darkish area.

The GST refund was processed, and I decided to hunt for the dnata lounge.

dnata Lounge

a sign on a wall

IThe first thing that struck me was how small this little lounge was. Finding a seat wasn’t a problem, but it was … limited. Also the furniture wasn’t in top shape.

Slightly worrying.

I found a space to camp out and grabbed a drink and some snacks. And compared to the SATS lounge in Terminal 2 – this is lacking – end of matter, in terms of quanitiy and quality. Dishes weren’t refreshed often.

Worst Satay EVER.

And there were instant noodles But I think this was a point of discussion that I had whilst I was there.

The other thing is if you’re going to do Satay, it isn’t meant to be as tough as old boots..

So onto the gem of a lounge – the ablity to work and use high speed wifi. One normally hinges on good qaulity wifi… and… oh dear.

There’s crap wifi, awful wifi, then theres the dnata T3 lounge wifi #showmethemegabits. #switchingbacktopublicwifipic.twitter.com/cwad3R6ZnP

This is NOT what I’d call acceptable in any sense of the word. For a lounge, it was tired and need some serious work to bring up to spec.

Event the PUBLIC Wifi was doing a bucket better:

and here’s the public network speed at Changi T3. dnata need to up their game at the Changi T3 lounge. Fast. #showmethemegabitspic.twitter.com/4vl5RY0u1a

And as this is a newish terminal – this is a case of “MUST DO BETTER”.

Eventually, I got bored, and headed out. I started to make tracks for the gate – doing a little shopping on the way (and successfully getting shot of some Malaysian Ringitt in the process).

Changi Airport

I made a stop at an interesting machine which allows you to convert left over currency into iTunes or Starbucks vouchers.

Singapore Changi

With the equivalent of just under £5 left, I went to my default choice of coffee. A bit later – my voucher was ready for collection.

Again – a simple idea to use leftover money to something you want.

If this doesn’t scream instagram image, I don’t know what does…

Travellating down the travelator…

Eventually I reached A14 – and cleared security at the gate. And whilst i was early – the gate was looking very well packed out.

Changi Airport

At least the A350 was looking it was ready for the flight onwards. The Wifi Dome on the outside even looke promising that I might have decent Wifi aboard.

Qatar Airways A350

Oh how wrong I was on that front.

Boarding was called for premium passengers, and I took my leave of the Merlion City Nation – with an intention to return sometime in the future.

Next: QR947 Singapore Changi to Hamad International, Doha.

Cathay uses this lounge too! Any updates on when their new lounge is opening? Also do you know if Qatar passengers will have access?
