Well, there’s been some movement it seems at World Travel Market 2017 in London. The Independent has caught British Airway CEO Alex Cruz stating the following about the service:
There has also been criticism of a cost-saving move to reducing catering in economy on longer flights. The traditional second meal on routes such as from London to the US west coast has been replaced by a snack, to the consternation of many passengers.
“We will upgrade catering so that everyone has better snacks and, on longer flights, everyone has a full second meal,’

In your humble writers opinion – this cannot come a moment soon enough. Whilst the days of the pizza are gone in American Airlines Main Cabin, the Monty’s Hot Boxes work rather well.

The article also goes onto talk about how Buy-On-Board seems to be a success for British Airways. This is still… grating me after the time its been on. Whilst shorthaul food was always a joke, I suspect no passenger ever voted for “Take my drinks away whilst you’re at it”.
Still, it seems that maybe this lesson of crap “fun sized” snacks may be coming to an end at last.
Because it cheapens the British Airways experience if they’re trying to sell themselves as a “premium airline”.
