The Dubai Air Show is on …. and normally, I’d be doing my usual digest. Except – as some of you know, I’m a little bit pre-occupied at the moment.
Let’s have a look at who’s been buying what, and it’s mostly Boeing that’s been doing the selling so far.
Emirates – Commitment for 40 Boeing 787-10 aircraft.
It sees Emirates is going to try a new type of aircraft, with the airline committing for 40 Boeing 787-10 aircraft.

The type will be used to compliment the existing Boeing 777 fleet as well as the upcoming 777X fleet, providing medium haul lift for the airline.
Azerbaijan Airlines – five more 787s, two freighters
Azerbaijan Airlines have signed for another five Boeing 787-8 aircraft, along with two large freighers (of a type to be determined yet) At list prices, the order is worth US$1.9 billion.

ALAFCO Finalises an order for 20 737 MAX 8s
Kuawait-based ALAFCO (Aviation Lease and Finance Company) have finalised an order for 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft – taking their orders to forty aircraft in total. The initial commitment was announced at the Paris Air Show this year.
Airbus
*crickets* There’s talk of an A380 deal, but nothing solid as yet. Maybe something for the final day?
Bombardier
With the recent news of Airbus is to acquire a majority holding in the CSeries project, its still quiet this air show….
ATR
Not a lot this air show. But they have inked a deal with Fed Ex before the show for 30 ATR72-600 Freighters, with options for a further 20.
Whilst the Dubai Air Show tends to be a quieter one – it does follow the earlier trend this year for much smaller orders, and the days of mega-orders slowing down whilst the market decides its next steps.
There has been a big reveal with Emirates new 777 product – and others have covered this extensivly elsewhere.
But the Dubai Air Show orders can be summed up in one meme:
