So, as I’ve eluded to in the past, Club Europe’s afternoon tea service can be… varible.
And by that I mean, variably bad. Let’s take this example of Afternoon Tea service on BA717 between Zürich and London, flown on Saturday.
Well, I’ll give credit where credit is due… we were handed out nuts
And of course, the battery acid that British Airways likes to call “Champagne”
And now onto the main event. Do I get a lovely chiabata with nothing on the side? Or do I get something that is totally dissapointing? You’re right – three finger sandwiches and a slice of Dundee cake.
Wow. Just wow. So disappointing at so many levels (bear in mind this flight departed Zürich at 16:35)
British Airways time their food according to the following times on Flyertalk
- Breakfast – served on flights departing before 09:30
- Brunch – served on flights departing between 09:30 and 11:59
- Lunch – served on flights departing between 12:00 and 13:59
- Afternoon Tea – served on flights departing between 14:00 and 16:59
- Dinner – served on flights departing after 17:00
Now, not all meals are bad on BA Club Europe shorthaul – take for example the breakfast I had on the way out:
But the afternoon tea is missing scones (which have been paired back), and to be honest – something more filling. Especially if you’ve been on a cold airport deck for the afternoon and require subsistence…
A case of “can do better” I suspect.
