United seems to be busy with their Youtube Channel (dread the thought – doing a Delta) and has posted this little vid of a reconfiguration of a 747…
My interest in this video starts at 0:58 seconds… where we see economy class being fitted in (getting shot of those lovely grey with multi-striped coloured seats to nice corporate blue ones.
And SURPRISE! Not “Personal” IFE Upgrades there. Once again – United is treating its Y class customers as well as Pam Ann would.
You’re probably wondering why I’m moaning about the 747 refurb. The fact is that these birds are used on Ultra Long Haul routes, that if you’re stuck in row 61B in an old config or new config to means 14 hours can be a VERY long flight.
Whilst good in principle for the refurb (and thumbs up for tidying up these birds) – ignoring Y class I think is a mistake – United has to realise that Delta, Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic, BA, Air New Zealand, Qantas and a plethora of other carries are starting to bite at its heels on some of its routes.
