Lufthansa catches a bit of sun: Takes responsibility for the weather!

07/08/2009 by Kevincm

Lufthansa is going to try an new idea, and offer travellers compensation if their holidays are washed-out, with a claim of up 20€ a day, up to a max of 200€ per trip.
The airline defines a rainy day as one having at least five millimeters of rain per square metre based on results at www.wetteronline.de.
“If the sunny stay hoped for by many is spoiled by rain, maybe 20 euros compensation … will brighten the mood,” said the airline in a statement.
Well if they want to accept blame and pay out – it suits me just fine…
The ‘sunshine rate’ is available until 18 August and is valid on flights departing between 1 September to 31 October to 36 destinations (which are unlisted at this time).
If you get soaked, send in your BP’s and documents… and there could be a nice surprise for you…

Oh well. If LH wants to take responsibility for the weather – I’m not arguing…
