Flying United Discounted Business (Z Fares?) Good News – 200% Earning From *TODAY*

01/02/2010 by Kevincm

So if you’re one of these odd people who choose to book Z fares on United, and trying to maximise mileage in Diamond Club, from todayish (01/02/10), United fares now earn 200% of the base mileage in BMI Diamond Club scheme.

Whilst not the greatest option over the pond, it’s not a bad option by any stretch of the matter (as I found out by accident)- and for 200% Diamond Club miles, it represents pretty good value for those trying to get the BMI Star Alliance Gold in a hurry, or if you want BMI Silver – a 232 miles off from a standing start on an LHR-ORD run.

An LHR-SFO run will net 21460 miles in Z – although you will be be stuck in old Business seats until United can be bothered to start the 777 refurbishment project.

Just a reminder – Z fares are typically 56 day Advance Purchase fares (and sometimes more) with a limited set of conditions attached. As usual – read the fine print
