Reasons to feel ripped off: Virgin Trains

03/04/2010 by Kevincm

So muggins has to go down south this weekend, and for once, I decided to take Virgin trains instead of Chiltern.

Now Virgin promises fast services to London from Birmingham. Which is good – on a Monday to Friday weekday.

Bring the weekend in… And things go downhill quickly.

Let’s count the problems:
1) An Extra 35 minutes to the journey due to diversions
2) Not 1 diversion but 2! (via Nuneaton and Northampton)
3) an equipment change from a 9 car Pendolino to a 5 car Voyager (which reduces capacity)
4) Most annoyingly of all – no working at seat power!

I honestly give up with Virgin Trains some days….(with £41.90 for the privilege…)
