Volcanic Ash from Iceland hits the UK – MAJOR CANCELLATIONS

15/04/2010 by Kevincm

Due to the ash from Iceland in the upper atmosphere, there are major disruptions to the flying programmes today across the UK

ATC Have banned flying flying over certain parts of Scotland, and may modify its advice as the cloud migrates southwards over the UK.

THEIR MAJOR CANCELLATIONS ON ALL UK AND IRELAND AIRPORTS

(7am update)

250 flights are hit over Scottish airports (ABZ, GLA and EDI Closed), and all British airspace flights are restricted.  MAN is open, but about 200 flights hit and is expecting emergency diversions

Manchester is expected to clear at 1pm, and disruptions all day.

The advice from all airports is loud and clear – check before you travel with your airline.
