Well, Ryanair is doing a repeat of last year, cutting services and frequencies at London Stansted, with 22 aircraft based at there for the Winter season, and 135 less services
In general, UK Capacity will be down 17%, with Stansted’s capacity dropping by 16% over the winter months.
However, as usual Ryanair goes on the attack, and a full on rant about Air Passenger Duty (APD – and there’s no need to get me started on it too), and will be moving some of its London based aircraft stating:
“(move) to other European bases where governments have scrapped tourist taxes and reduced passenger charges, in some case to zero, in order to grow tourism and traffic”.
In other words, this is a dig at the Government who will be raising APD from November 1st 2010, and a dig at Stansted to lower Ryanairs landing rates again to keep it there.
