Whilst JAL isn’t out of the fire when it comes to its financial troubles, it is continue to innovate with the opening up of Tokyo Haneda. And there are some interest routes opening up including:
- Bangkok
- Honolulu
- Paris Charles De Gaulle
- San Francisco.
- Singapore
- Taipei Songshan
ANA on the other hand has made it’s move, which makes it a practical head to head on lots of them. The routes include:
- Bangkok
- Honolulu,
- Los Angeles
- Singapore
- Taipei Songshan
Notice any duplication there? On at least 3 routes there will be direct competition, whilst both airlines are beefing up their local/regional services, and re-timing them when needed.
As it’s known, the opening up of Haneda is important for travellers for a simple reason – it’s a comparative stones throw away from the heart of Tokyo (about 15 miles or so). Tokyo Nartia on the hand is the best part of 50 miles away requiring a long bus ride, a train, or some of the most expensive taxis around.
Services are due to commence on October 31 2010 with both airlines.
