It seems BMI Baby (the low cost arm of British Midland International) is at it again, this time with luggage sizers being…. incorrectly sized.
For those of you who don’t bother to use them, these are things you’re meant to measure your luggage against to see if you’re allowed to take your bag on board a plane – or not as the case may be.
BBC’s Watchdog has discovered cases where a £30 charge has been levied for bags that are within the airline’s size restriction.
The excuse BMI Baby has come up with is
“The discrepancies were due to the curved edges of the gauges used to determine the size of bags”
“Bmibaby is now looking to replace all its gauges with a version that removes this anomaly”
Wrong answer BMI Baby. The preceding words you missed off the PR are “We’re Sorry, but…”
And quite frankly inexcusable. So yes – Bad BMI Baby!
For now, take a mini tape measure with you to prove to the check in counter staff that you’re right and they’re wrong – and make sure your bag is within limits…..
