AR: Yet another “Quality” member to join SkyTeam

19/10/2010 by Kevincm

News comes from Argentina with Aerolineas Argentinas is to join the SkyTeam alliance, becoming the group’s first South American member.

Aerolineas Argentina is aiming to sign an agreement this month to begin the process of joining SkyTeam, targenting an entry in 2012.

They operate a mixture of Airbus A340-200’s, A340-300’s, Boeing 737-500’s, 700’s and 800’s, and Three Boeing 747-400’s – 39 aircraft in total with their McDonnald Douglas aircraft being phased out.

However, there is an image problem that SkyTeam needs to deal with itself shortly. Being the “Third” alliance, it shows with the quality of airlines that it attracts… and to be honest, none of them I’d particularly want to fly personally.

Still – if it works people, this should be a worthy addition.
