04/11/2010 by Kevincm

More breaking news from the A380 Incident today, with the announcement that Singapore Airlines (the other A380 operator who uses Rolls Royce Engines) will continue to operate their A380’s – having no plans to ground them.

Quoting a Singapore Airlines spokesperson:

“There are no plans as of now to ground our A380 aircraft, and operations are continuing as normal”

“It is premature at this point to speculate and we will await advice from the aircraft and engine manufacturers as the investigation progresses.”

In other news Airbus and Rolls Royce have begun investigations into what happened to the engine to cause the incident.

The team from Airbus will be assisting the Air Accident Investigation Bureau of Singapore with the investigation of the incident, with Rolls Royce also assisting.

At this time Rolls Royce will no speculate on what happened. with them quoting

“Investigations are at a very early stage,  It’s important to get the facts first.”

There is no input from Emirates or Air France (the other A380 operators) at this time as they operate their A380’s with Engine Alliance GP7200 engines.
