SQ: No more economy for you on the top deck!

13/12/2010 by Kevincm

Singapore Airlines has dissapointingly decided the stragegy of having Economy on both decks of an A380 is to come to an end with the delivery of new aircraft next year according to Business Traveller

What as a nice cabin in a A340/A330’eqse 2 x 4 x 2 seating (as opposed to the main deck holding 3 x 4 x 3) in a very “mini-club” cabin will become harder to get hold of when the 13th A380 and all aircraft onwards will not have an economy product on the top deck, but instead will make most of that deck business class.

From May onwards, expect the new aircraft to be rostered onto high business routes – so London
Singapore is a prime candidate, as a Paris and Zurich. The old units will not be modified, but be rostered onto lower business class routes

So keep an eye on those seating plans as one this gets confusing quickly.

A big shame really. But if it means Singapore Airlines can extract more cash to buy more toys and pay people…..
