MU: Another 50 A320’s please…

30/12/2010 by Kevincm

China Eastern Airlins have been busy and got themselves a later Christmas present of an order to Airbus for 50 A320’s.

These units will be delivered from 2012 through to 2015, and firmly puts aside the homegrown C919 at this time from this fleet.

This is in addition to the 20 already ordered by China Eastern in 2009, with better fiscal terms for the airline.

So where does this leave the homegrown COMAC C919 Aircraft? Dead in the water or just waiting in the wings?

For now – waiting – there’s a lot of aircraft to sell still, but for imminent growth verses an aircraft that only got 1 in the series and has been certificated for test work, going back to the old airframers is a lot easier…
