We all know (for those long time readers of this blog) that JAL has been down the pan for some time, and has slowly been reorganising itself.
The fruit of the reorganisation and reinvestments will be paying off shortly, and to celebrate the “New” JAL, they’ve gone distinctly retro with the proposed new paint scheme.
Image – JAL.
For those of you around long enough, yes – it’s the same logo that they had from 1959 and used up to about 2000 before the went to the rising sun logo that’s currently on their birds.
Well it’s back to the past it seems now. However new corporate language has come forward, from JAL Group President Masaru Onishi:
“Japan Airlines started out as a pioneer and ventured on a path where no other company in Japan explored
“Today, we firmly resolve to recapture the unity and challenging spirit that our employees possessed at the time of JAL’s founding, and together, we will propel the company forward over the hurdles that lie ahead to again stand at the forefront of this ever-evolving industry.”
Now, represented by the high-flying crane, we hereby renew our commitment to provide our valued customers with the highest levels of service, and to diligently raise our corporate value so that the JAL Group can once again contribute to the advancement of society.”
Whilst uniforms stay the same, everything else with a JAL logo will change, and be phased out. Dread the thought – even new safety videos.
The first bird to be painted will be a Boeing 767-300ER, used for international/inter-regional flights.
Lets hope the logo of the past, and the red crane can lift JAL back into the skies again.
