TC: Yes – even Charter Operators are now having to pile on fuel surcharges

01/03/2011 by Kevincm

In what will come as a shock to some, the Tour operator Thomas Cook has decided to levy a fuel surcharge.

This is due to the spike in fuel prices.

For Short Haul Holidays (Think Europe), you’re looking at £15 a person a holiday.
For Long Haul Holidays (Anywhere else), it’s now £40 extra.

The surcharge will apply to all new bookings that include a Thomas Cook flight made from Tuesday 1st March onwards. It applies to:

  • Flights only
  • Flights and Holidays
  • Booked Directly
  • Booked via a 3rd Party

In other words – the lot.

This affects brands sold by Thomas Cook. These include:

  • Thomas Cook
  • Airtours
  • Club 18-30
  • Manos
  • Neilson
  • Sunset

Considering how much these could be when it’s a big family, expect it to hurt if you’re booking a package…
