Meanwhile a bit further across Asia, Cathay Pacific is busy buying new aircraft – this time another 4 Boeing 777-300ER’s
On top of this they’ve ordered much more cargo capacity in the form of 8 Boeing 777-200 freighters.
Meanwhile Singapore Airlines too have decided to expand their fleet by ordering an extra 8 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to allow it to phase out older aircraft and expand as needed.
Their aircraft are destined for Long Haul and Medium Haul routes, and due to begin arriving in 2013, adding to the existing 19 777-300ER’s in their fleet.
The 777-300ER of course is a stretch of the Boeing 777 that has curried favour with airlines due to the amount of bums of seats you can fit in with low operational costs compared to a 747-400. So much so, the biggest competitor to the passenger 747-8i is…. their own 777-300ER.
