IAG on BMI Miles – We can’t tell you anything yet…

12/11/2011 by Kevincm

Simon Calder of The Independent  has been writing about the changes about British Airways and Airmiles are making with the jump to Avios.

But there is one nugget of information about BMI Diamond Club and it’s future if IAG complete the purchase of BMI. And here it is in completion.

“At this stage, IAG has signed a letter of intent to buy BMI and it is hoped that the deal will be completed in the first quarter of 2012. While we appreciate fully the concerns that BMI’s customers have about their BMI points, at this early stage in the deal process, we are unable to provide any them with any further information.”

And that really is it. So at this stage, providing all goes well, I’d have your mileage pile down by a fair whack before March next year before they’re Avios’d. Or if the grand master of stamping his feet gets his way (unlikely as it is)… Virgin Atlantic Miles.
