Well it had to happen sooner or later with aircraft groundings, lease repossessions and everything else, but Air Zimbabwe has had to suspend services.
The airline failed to secure a rescue plan, according to the AFP.
With one aircraft impounded in London last year, South African flights were suspended in case other aircraft were to be repossessed. The Airline which was operating as a domestic from the 20th February seems to have lasted a grand total of 4 days before having been suspended.
Reports indicate that outstanding debts of US$35M, and failures to pay pilots or staff.
Sadly, it’s not surprising airlines are dropping out of the air – especially when they don’t pay their bills.
That reminds me… how is Kingfisher doing right now?….

I saw ome of their planes last week while there. Amazing to see a country fall apart so fast. Corruption. Surprised they held on to an airline for so long. I would not want to fly it.

To be honest, I’m surprised Air Zimbabwe survived this long. I sadly think we’re going to see a LOT more casualties this year in the airline industry, with bigger names to fall and suffer….
