Ah, Garuda. Back in the 80s I flew Garuda LHR-BKK – the plane has “issues” and landed in Karachi. It took them 4 days to find another plane. Did I mention that I was the only white, Western woman on the flight? The airline put us up in a hotel that wouldn’t be up to Motel 6 standards. I had only a daypack with me – I planned to buy stuff in Bangkok – so I didn’t have anything other than a jean skirt, a long-sleeved shirt and flip-flops. A memorable experience.
