Singapore Airlines to increase fuel surcharges

02/03/2012 by Kevincm

Not so good news if you’re planning to fly Singapore Airlines in the future, with them announcing that fuel surcharges are on the way up.

Like most carriers, it’s being stung by the cost of fuel, and has kindly decided to pass that onto the customer. Which isn’t nice

The surcharge is dependent on Class of Service and Distance from Singapore, applying to all Singapore Airlines and SilkAir flights. (new price in italics) from 8th March 2012.

Route Previous First Class Surcharge New First Class Surcharge Previous Business Class Surcharge New Business Class Surcharge Previous Economy Class Surcharge New Economy Class Surcharge
Singapore – Southeast Asian destinations US$55 US$61 US$47 US$52 US$34 US$36
Singapore-Europe and Singapore – South Africa US$192 US$211 US$180 US$198 US$162 US$174
Singapore-Americas US$290 US$318 US$278 US$305 US$266 US$287
Europe-Australia / New Zealand (transfer flights) US$286 US$313 US$268 US$294 US$242 US$260
Other flights US$138 US$150 US$122 US$133 US$106 US$114

The “Other Flights” row refers to flights from Singapore to Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and UAE.

It goes without saying if you want that Singapore Airlines redemption, book it now as these go into effect from 8th March 2012.
