Meanwhile it seems that Iberia is still in the depths of Strike action, with SEPLA still annoyed at the launch of Iberia Express.
A further 24 days of industrial action have been announced. SELPA state:
“The pilots have decided to increase the number of strike days due to the company’s refusal to negotiate”
Pilots in SEPLA have contributed to 12 days of strikes since December 2011, with IAG estimating the strike costs about €3 million a day. The STAVLA union states it it would join the pilots in their industrial action.
The new dates are set for March, April and May, and will hit during the major holidays in Spain too – including the Easter period.
Those dates in full:
- March 16, 19, 23, 25, 26 and 30
- April 2, 4, 9, 13, 16, 20, 23, 27 and 30
- May 2, 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25 and 28.
Iberia is planning to ask the the government to implement the decree on minimum services during the next strike days, as it did with past strikes, but when it comes to strike dates the usual rules apply:
- Check if you’re flying those days
- Make appropriate contingency plans
Going by the pattern of previous strikes, expect every aspect of Iberia’s flying programme to be hit with Long Haul, Short Haul and Domestic programmes all hit in different ways. Flights operated by Air Nostrum, Vueling , and those on code shares with other airlines will operate normally.
Nothing like the joy of travel.
