Good news if you’re heading off for the Easter break with Swissport and the GMB union agreeing call off the proposed Easter strike
The GMB union members working for Swissport had agreed to strike due to the pay cuts proposed, however both sides have seen sense over the holiday at least.
In a joint statement Swissport and the GMB and Unite unions said:
“We are pleased that passengers and families travelling over the Easter weekend will no longer face potential disruption.
We will continue our talks in an attempt to reach a joint consensus that ensures we understand the commercial challenges and balance the need for the work life balance of our membership.”
Both sides will return to the negotiating table later in April.
Swissport handles Air Arabia, Air Malta, Blue Air, Cyprus Airways, Eurocypria, Monarch Airlines, Norwegian.no, Ryanair, SunExpress and Thomson Airways at Stansted Airport.
Whilst there were contingency measures in place, it’s nice to see a bit of calm over the upcoming Easter break.
