Virgin A330 Incident at Gatwick – All safe – Gatwick Reopened with delays

16/04/2012 by Kevincm

Virgin flight VS027 en-route to Orlando in the USA encountered problems in flight, and was forced to return to Gatwick to perform an emergency landing.

From reports, smoke was being expelled into the cabin, forcing a full emergency evacuation when the plane touched down safely, with slides deployed.

The plane landed safely at 12:30 local.

Virgin Atlantic say said the Airbus A330-300 aircraft had 13 crew and 299 passengers on board, all safe from current reports

A video report is on ITV’s Web Site: http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2012-04-16/video-of-gatwick-emergency/

Flights in and out of Gatwick are now operating according to it’s Twitter Feed, but expect heavy delays.
