Finnair to introduce lifetime Status

26/04/2012 by Kevincm

Finnair has thrown an interesting possibility out there – lifetime status.

Here are the numbers to make you wince.

  • If you earn over  3,000,000 tier points you’re up for lifetime Gold status,
  • If you earn over 5,000,000 tier points will receive lifetime Platinum status.

All tier points so far accrued will count towards these massive goals, both on Finnair metal and  Oneworld members

Currently to get Finnair status you need:

  • Silver requires 40,000 tier points, or 24 Finnair or oneworld scheduled flights  (except Domestics)
  • Gold requires 90,000 tier points or  54 Finnair or oneworld scheduled flights  (except Domestics)
  • Platinum requires 150,000 tier points or 92 Finnair or oneworld scheduled flights (except Domestics)

All numbers are per year.

There’s a bunch of information at http://www.finnair.com/GB/GB/lifetime-tiers, but it’s still a LOT of BIS* tier points for shiny lifetime plastic…

BIS = Backside in seat
