It seems FlyBe is gunning for what remains of BMI Regional and BMI Baby with the announcement of the airline basing two aircraft at East Midlands Airport and five new routes operating from EMA.
FlyBe will be operating various routes connecting EMA to:
- Amsterdam
- Paris Charles de Gaulle
- Edinburgh
- Glasgow
- Jersey
The expansion is to go ahead for the Winter Timetable, with the schedules and frequencies being finalised between Flybe and EMA, with services anticipated to commence from October 28th 2012 through to March 30th, 2013.
FlyBe currently operates a EMA-Belfast City Airport service.
Looking at the routes, this ties into the SkyTeam hubs of AMS and CDG, allowing long haul connections, whilst attacking with domestic traffic that will chew away at what remains of BMI Regional.
For Granite Aviation, they’d better put their skates on, secure their routes, services and future plans. The vultures are beginning to circle and are smelling the easy prey left behind…
And for anyone left intrested buying BMI Baby… well…..
