Arriving on the 10th May? Well you’re probably going to have more of a wait to get into the country as the Immigration Services Union (who represent 4500 members) are going out on strike over pensions and retirement ages.
The 24 hour strike is set to start at 00:01 on 10 May for 24 hours.
BAA who operate London Heathrow, Stansted and other some other UK airports state
“The Home Office has assured us it has tried and tested contingency plans in place to minimise any disruption caused by a strike. At the moment we are not advising passengers to change their plans.“
Gatwick Airport is expecting delays stating
““The UK Border Force is taking industrial action for 24 hours from 00.01 on Thursday 10 May. During the planned strike, we will be working closely with UK Border Force to make sure that there’s as little disruption as possible to airport operations, however, passengers may experience some delays at the Border Zone.”
It seems that the current government is having its fair share of fun, with delays reported both at Heathrow and Stansted so far, and the calls to sort out the UK Border in terms of processing times.
Alas, it seems the unions are now adding to the pressure of the issues at the UK Border.
So if you’re coming into the United Kingdom tomorrow – expect delays…

The Home Office is more confident that I am in their ability to not impact my schedule. Trip to London canceled.

I’m standing in the queue now at Passport Control holding a US passport. There doesnt seem to be a lack of agents for EU and UK passport holders but the line for ‘others’ is backed up to the steps.
